I've had a trade deficit with supermarkets my whole life. Not once has any one of them bought anything from me, yet I keep buying and buying...
How does that justify Canada openly lying?
Openly lying about one's position is a typical negotiating strategy available to parties and used by both parties in the Canada-USA trade negotiations. It doesn't need to be justified. My issue is the American threats of violent annexation. That is more indicative of a shakedown.
What is the lie?
How do you expect to have a trade balance with a country that is 10% of your population.

This reads like a non sequitur to me. What is your point?
Canada's (Carney's) framing is basically propaganda by omission.
How so? Is the thing you accuse them of omitting this thing and the trade deficit? How is that relevant?
