Better comparison is probably the dotcom bubble, and companies like pets.com, webvan, kozmo, etoys, worldcom, global crossing, etc. It was not entirely clear to most investors in 2001 that google and amazon would make it.

I don't think pets.com, an online retailer, is an apt comparison to Anthropic, an bleeding edge research lab doing things that most people would consider science fiction a few years ago.
