This neglected to say what an "SRE" is.
Site reliability engineers respond to emergencies and keeps systems online in real time. They are perpetually on call. As a swe, it's much better than having on call rotations.

Funny how people find it necessary to invent new terms because they can't be bothered to learn the ones that exist.
I don't know when SRE was invented as a term, but I first became aware of it in 2008 so I do not consider it new.
