This is a little bit misleading.

'Preventing a heart attack' means taking life long medication to reduce the absolute risk of heart attack by about 1%, which is worth doing, but complicates the maths a little bit. The scan doesn't magically eliminate heart attack risk

Sources? That 1% number is in my understanding wildly incorrect for statins, if that's what you're referring to. Are you comparing use of statins for people who already are low risk for heart attack over the next 10 years?

Just vaguely remember what my cardiologist told me. This is absolute, not relative. Which, and I'm definitely not saying it's insignificant.

By one percent, do you mean 3% of people per year in a high risk category turns into 2.97%, or 2%? Because that’s a big difference

It is a big difference and definitely worth doing
