Intellectually prudent people may note that macOS's status as "Unix" depended on temporary waivers and insane, unattainable OS modifications.
There's probably a high-nines percentage of Mac owners that have never configured their Mac to be Unix compliant, and never will.
None of that is relevant to the point. Historical curiosity does not concern itself with practicality.
