I'm happy for you but when was the last time you did something for your own community? How many of your neighbours have you done this for? When was the last time you even bent down and picked up a single piece of litter in your street? Bonus points if nobody was looking and you didn't rush to make a "Tell HN" about it.
Just to clarify I try to do good things for my neighbors as much as I can. I started this particular effort when I was young and had very little money so I could have never provided an education for one of my US neighbors. The leverage was huge in this case to provide an education despite my lack of resources.
I didn't tell anyone about this for 10 years and am only now doing so in hopes of raising money to expand this effort beyond myself. I didn't know how it would go but I was able to raise am impactful sum of money and am confident about how I can expand the effort. I do not regret that decision.
