This is government overreach. Everyone should be allowed to run a surveillance system. People should be allowed to sell biometric data to each other, to corporations, or to the government. Such a restriction is preventing so many jobs from being created.
If anyone is allowed to do this, everyone should be allowed to do this. Which is to say that no one should be allowed to do this.
Why should no one be allowed to do this? If photons are landing on my property, they belong to me.
Private security cameras aren't the issue here at all.
People are mostly objecting to government misuse of security tech to accelerate unconstitutional enforcement.
