People underestimate just how much a $5 VPS can run, because they are using things written in Java, C#, Python, PHP, etc.

I had a $5 VPS once manage device is image downloads via HTTP, and had 100s of thousands of devices update themselves in a single night, with about 10k concurrent connections at peak.

That same instance later couldn't run a single Jenkins instance for a single project...
