Yeah i just tried self-hosting GitLab again and was surprised that I was getting OOM errors when I provisioned it with an 6GB memory limit. Turns out 8GB is like, the bare minimum. Crazy

I vouch for gitea too! I have it on my home cluster with about 50 repos and some actions, 150MB memory for gitea and 50MB memory for the actions/runner pod sitting idle. Plus postgres (another < 200mb). Do keep in mind gitea does ALOT of read queries on page load so keep db and gitea close, but it's tiny!!

Try gitea. It's super lightweight and feels and looks very similar to gitlab. I did not benchmark but it feels like it needs 10% of ram and cpu of gitlab requirements. It's great.
