When I moved to the west coast, I was looking at the history and how cities like Burbank lived under a tarp cover that when viewed from the air looked nothing like the city/airport that they were covering. The fear of another Pearl Harbor like attack was that great. Plus, all of that cool shade while denying the enemy!!
Because that is one of the methods used to verify that everyone is complying with treaties, such as nuclear non-proliferation treaties.
Unfortunately it's a little too late for that, those treaties are effectively dead anyway. Not a good situation but that is our reality.

If only that were true. The world would be a much better place if we only had to deal with waste caused by the military-industrial complex. But the unfortunate reality is that a desperate and expansionist Russia represents a serious threat. They need to be aggressively confronted and contained in every domain, including space.
