Hemispheric neurons seem totally different than those of brain stem, the latter being more like an extention of spinal cord. Higher neurons are not only specialized but they form sophisticated centres and complicated networks that process the highest sensory and motor signals and form what human is. The brain stem only contains nuclei and autonomic centres that are of low complexity. We knew they are different, kudos to the team that explored, proved, published and even applied this knowledge.
