Several of our English and History classes were paired on purpose for just this reason. We'd be reading Dickens while study that era, or Catch-22 when studying WWII and the immediate post-War era, etc.

That said, I'm also frequently amazed at the stuff some people didn't learn that I clearly remember being covered in school...
