Isn’t this the same company that had the trademark dispute with Iceland the country?

> The ruling stated that the supermarket chain founded in 1970 "cannot reasonably trademark the name of a country that has been around since the 9th century"

amazing

So does this mean I can start a supermarket chain named Iceland, and that’s fine?

Not in the UK. This was an EU ruling. In the EU you could theoretically open your own store named Iceland but you’d have to be careful about doing absolutely anything that might be intepreted as impersonating the existing store.

This is a great read thank you.

> Iceland Foods' managing director Richard Walker said the supermarket will "vigorously defend its intellectual property rights"

Some people have no shame at all. This is so absurd it read like a comedy sketch.
