I found this as I was taking a picture of a hare after dark without flash, the image that came up was both relatively sharp and much more illuminated / clear than my own eyes; it can't just have been long exposure time (the mechanical stabilization in phone cameras can't be that good), so I'm confident it takes many photos and layers them smartly, not unlike astrophotography.
