Résumé/CV: upon request / LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/sasha-tyrba
Email: sasha@sashatyrba.com
Senior full-stack and AI systems engineer with 15+ years of experience building web products, SaaS platforms, infrastructure, and applied AI systems end-to-end.
Recently built an AI research/data-extraction system using LLM APIs, embeddings, structured outputs, evals, prompt versioning, Python automation, and TypeScript backend/frontend pieces. It reduced research workflows from several weeks to ~30 minutes and processed millions of documents.
Before that I was lead engineer for a production e-commerce marketplace, working across frontend, backend, infrastructure, security, reliability, internal tools, and major migrations. I helped move major parts of the platform from JS to TS, MariaDB to PostgreSQL, Heroku/Fly.io to DigitalOcean, Fastly to Cloudflare, SCSS to Tailwind.
I’m usually a good fit for small teams that need someone senior who can take ambiguous product or technical problems and turn them into reliable software. Open to remote contract, fractional, or part-time work.
Experienced software developer, currently available for freelance work.
Particularly good at cleaning up messes! Suitable contracts might include legacy module rewrites, performance improvements, or the daunting new feature which nobody on your team wants to tackle.I can be flexible on time zones. No interest in relocating long-term, but I'd be happy to visit your team in person for a few days to break the ice.
My specialist skills:
- The Rust language, which has been my daily driver for more than a decade.
- Multimedia (video, audio, 2D rendering...)
- Performance optimisation (SIMD, GPGPU, parallel programming...)
Fields in which I'm highly experienced, but below specialist level:
- Web development, with a frontend bias (TypeScript, React, WebGL, WebAssembly...)
- Native development, especially low-level Win32.
- Communication and technical writing, both learned in a previous career.
I also have a modest level of experience in computer vision, greenfield R&D, game engine development, programming language development, and data compression. I can offer a 50% discount for any contract which seems highly educational; my current areas of interest include DSP, embedded programming, Svelte, functional languages, Swift, and React Native.
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing from you :-)
I'm good at this sort of nitpicky work, spotting and thinking about edge cases. I like getting things exactly right, even though that obviously isn't always possible due to various constraints. I've been kind of wondering if I should get into embedded development; I find it appealing when things are low-level or similarly constrained. I've beaten Microcorruption. :) (The original levels, I haven't played the new ones.)
I'm also quite interested in unusual or obscure data formats, and working on Truffle Debugger and its associated libraries certainly involved a bunch of having to figure undocumented formats and interfaces. :) I put down above what languages I've worked substantially in but I'd say I'm a generalist and will figure out whatever you give me (I knew approximately no Javascript, Typescript, or Solidity when I started working at Consensys).
I'm a mathematician by background and in my spare time, so after the Truffle Debugger project was shut down I took some time off to focus on my mathematical projects, including old ones I've been shepherding through publication. But now I'm looking for work again! If you need someone like me, I'm available for hire!
SEEKING CONTRACT WORK - remote, email in profile. Location: West coast, remote only.
I'm a data scientist with more than 15 years experience who has worked with major automakers, shipping companies, and F100 companies, I'm looking for my next project. An ideal fit is a small/medium company with green or brownfield problems that need solving.
I'm skilled at building from 0 to 1, I normally do what is now called data engineer, data scientist, and machine learning engineer as one person. My work usually involves finding non-traditional datasources - Once it was USDA data for rural community demographic enrichment, Several times it was getting hands on with people or equipment. If we work together I'll do what I need to in order to solve the problem.

Email: jimmy@jimmycuadra.com
I was laid off by Cisco Meraki last summer, where I spent four years as a technical lead for the cloud side of the wireless products. I have experience in both web development and cloud infrastructure roles.
I have worked for years in open source software development. I created and ran two notable open source projects: Lita, a ChatOps framework for Ruby (https://github.com/litaio/lita) which is used by many companies for automating internal operations and workflows, and Ruma, an implementation of the Matrix protocol in Rust (https://ruma.dev/) which went on to become the basis for the official Rust SDK for Matrix.
My ideal role would be building software targeting other developers, either as a member of a developer tools team, or for a company whose products are made for developers. I'm also drawn to companies building "neutral" utilities whose value is fairly self-evident: Things like PagerDuty and Stripe which are generally useful and provide the infrastructure needed for other things to work.
I would love to use Rust professionally, but I'm fine with other languages, too. I'd also be very happy to work on a product with an amount of open source code, given my background working on OSS projects.
I've also recently deployed Electric Minds Reborn[0], a revival of a 1990's era virtual community using original data and a new software system written in Go, the Amsterdam Web Communities System[1]. Just to expand my horizons.

I'm currently a postdoctoral researcher working on dialogue systems research who completed my PhD working on dialogue systems (dialogue management, specifically) in late 2024. Besides dialogue systems research, I specialize in NLP and information retrieval, and before my PhD I worked in industry as a data scientist implementing search and match applications. Projects I've worked on over the years encompass both classic machine learning technologies as well as more recent AI approaches using LLMs and RAG.
I'm currently looking for opportunities both in Germany and the US for after my postdoc ends this year. I'm also happy to connect with anyone for networking on LinkedIn or otherwise!
I've QA'd SaaS products and complex, multi-system web platforms: the full manual and automated testing cycle, working closely with developers. I also build E2E test automation (Playwright) wired into CI and run production monitoring with on-call.
My edge is a user-focused, systems-level view: understanding how a feature should work and why, not just whether a test passes.
Looking for: Full-time: Senior QA / Test Automation Engineer / SDET roles.
SEEKING WORK | Data scientist consultant | Canada/Remote Worldwide
Most of what people call "data science" is now doable with an LLM and a weekend. I focus on the messy, ambiguous, regulation-heavy gnarly problems where nobody is sure what the right question is.

Remote: Yes
Relocation: Case-by-case
I'm an engineer and data professional interested in team-building, consulting and architecting data pipelines. At Edmunds.com, I worked on a fairly successful ad-tech product and my team bootstrapped a data pipeline using Spark, Databricks, and microservices built with Java, Python, and Scala.
At ATTN:, I re-built an ETL Kubernetes stack, including data loaders and extractors that handle >10,000 API payload extractions daily. I created SOPs for managing data interoperability with Facebook Marketing, Facebook Graph, Instagram Graph, Google DFP, Salesforce, etc.
More recently, I was the CTO and co-founder of a crypto gaming startup. We raised over $6M and I was in charge of building out a team of over a dozen remote engineers and designers, with a breadth of experience ranging from Citibank, to Goldman Sachs, to Microsoft. I moved on, but retain significant equity and a board seat.
I am also a minority owner of a coffee shop in northern Spain. That I'm a top-tier developer goes without saying. I'm interested in flexing my consulting muscle and can help with best practices, architecture, and hiring.
Would love to connect even if it's just for networking!

Founder / strategic systems advisor with ~15+ years of hands-on experience across web dev, Linux infra, SaaS/product architecture, automation, and digital strategy. I'm strongest in messy founder-led or early-stage contexts where product, technology, positioning, AI, infrastructure, and business priorities overlap.
I'm looking for remote advisory or strategic contract engagements: product/technical strategy, architecture reviews, AI/workflow opportunity mapping, positioning/GTM clarity, founder decision support, technical due diligence, or async strategic memos.
I can still go deep technically when needed, but the best fit is not "extra developer capacity". It is helping founders and teams think more clearly, make better decisions, reduce strategic noise, and turn complex context into a concrete path forward.

Selected experience:
- Built and shipped production AI workflows using LLMs, transcription, content generation, and video rendering - Developed RAG systems, natural-language-to-SQL pipelines, and AI evaluation/regression testing workflows - Led database optimization initiatives on large legacy systems handling millions of records - Experience across backend engineering, frontend product development, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and software architecture - AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate
Looking for senior fullstack, backend, AI engineer, or technical lead opportunities. Remote preferred.
For the past five years, I co-founded and ran an indie game studio. As gamedev CTO, I led a small team of devs, designers, and artists to ship three publisher-funded commercial games, including a simultaneous PC and multi-console (PS, Xbox, Switch) release. Most recently, I've explored integrating LLMs into my workflow, allowing me to single-handedly build two complex 50,000+ LOC client-server multiplayer prototypes in just six months.
I am very extroverted person with experience of managing a company P&L, crafting pitch decks, or driving bizdev. I know how to hire, lead, and execute fast.
I am looking for both full-time roles or contract work, in or out of gamedev. I treat my work as my life, and will dedicate 200% of my energy to it. So if you looking for contractor, co-founder or just advice on indie gamedev feel free to reach me!

— An AI employee for businesses (I was CTO). A company hires it like a real employee on a monthly salary — you give it tasks in plain language in Telegram and it figures out the rest. Under the hood it's a hierarchical multi-agent system: a coordinator breaks the task down, spins up the specialized agents it needs (creating new ones on the fly), runs them in parallel, and a separate agent verifies the output. It researches unfamiliar domains on its own and improves its agents after each task
— A system of 21 agents on Claude Code that built full Roblox games 24/7 — 3D, code, mechanics — and then played them itself, reading screenshots to understand where it was and navigate
— A framework and platform for autonomous Twitter agents. You describe an agent, it generates a full personality and runs the account on its own. The hard part was making them not sound like bots — solved with a custom prompt-engineering approach.
— InBetween: an MCP server that lets different people's AI agents message and work with each other directly
I can work as AI engineer, forward-deployed engineer, full-stack developer. Looking for project work or a founding-engineer role.

Hi HN,
I'm a 0-1 backend engineer, most recently owning the full AWS-based stack for a small startup. I thrive best in slightly volatile situations, reacting quickly to changing requirements, staying in communication to make sure everyone knows what's happening. Balancing new features against maintainability against stability. Low ego, and approaching unflappable.Location: Santa Cruz, CA Remote: Yes Willing to relocate: No
Technologies: Python, AI-assisted development, LLM workflows, agentic AI, MCP/tool use, Claude/Cursor/Hermes, data analysis, API integrations, product prototyping, Next.js/React, PostgreSQL, automation, ML, product analytics Résumé/CV: https://alexhorton.dev Email: horton.alexander@gmail.com
Applied AI / product builder. I’m strongest at turning messy ideas, workflows, datasets, and APIs into useful AI-assisted products and prototypes — especially where product judgment, user understanding, automation, and modern LLM/agent tooling matter.
Recent work: - Built and operate a private multi-agent Hermes/OpenClaw-style workflow system with specialist agents, Telegram/voice interfaces, model routing, tool use, and persistent memory. - Built Energy Scout, a solar ROI/incentive decision-support tool for homeowners evaluating energy options. - Built Bitcoin Machine Learning, a financial signal research project using supervised ML and market/macro/on-chain data. - Built PropFi, a property analytics prototype using SQL/data modeling and real-time data/API integrations.
I’m not trying to present as a conventional senior backend/platform engineer. My edge is more unusual: I use AI tools and product sense to build useful systems quickly, connect APIs/data/workflows, prototype product surfaces, and find where LLMs or automation can create leverage.
I’m especially interested in agentic AI, AI devtools, workflow automation, climate/energy/resilience, sustainable agriculture/food systems, fintech/proptech, education, open-source/public-interest tech, and tools that make people or small teams more capable.
Best fit: founder-led or small teams that need a product-minded AI builder / systems integrator / prototyper who can help move an ambiguous idea toward a working product.
I am looking for work in other domains as well.
Happy to provide you with a full CV personally.
I am Raphael, a Full Stack and AI Software Developer with more than 6 years of experience building SaaS, enterprise platforms and AI-native products.
I recently worked as a Founding Engineer at BuilderBase, where I owned core parts of the codebase, engineering processes and product architecture from pre-seed through a €500K+ funding round. Before that, I worked at a US fintech (SixPoint Capital) contributing to AI-driven underwriting workflows, modular SaaS architecture, scalable APIs and agentic systems for private credit and structured finance. I also bring strong experience working in fast-growing startup environments and I am a founder myself, which gave me a broader product vision and direct experience in product decision making.
I have a graduation in Software Engineering area and I'm currently pursuing an MBA in Big Data. I'm also Certified Oracle AI Foundations Associate, JavaScript/TypeScript Platform Developer and on track for the AWS Solutions Architect - Associate.
I am currently looking for a full time remote role where I can keep working with modern TypeScript, Python backend APIs, scalable SaaS architecture and AI/ML integrations. True team player and committed to delivering results from the very first days. 0-1 specialist, high product vision and high ownership + clean communication working-style.
I'm currently working on a "better Terraform" called unobin. https://github.com/cloudboss/unobin
Since then I've been building, not just selling: a RAG pipeline over messy medical-billing documents (CPT codes, payer policies, claims guidelines) that cut research time ~50%, a steganographic image-watermarking app, and a handful of agentic workflows and full-stack tools with Claude Code and Lovable. I also ran investor relations and the financial model for an early-stage entertainment dining startup, and angel invest in AI/consumer (Limitless → Meta, Augie → JWX, Studdy YC S23, longevityhealth.me, etc).
The short version: a customer-facing and solutions engineer who can sit with a data team in the weeds, build the POC, and make the executive business case. That combination is rare, and it's exactly what good solutions and forward-deployed roles need.
Looking for: Solutions Engineer / Solutions Architect, Customer Success, an AI GTM/strategy role, Chief of Staff, or Forward Deployed Engineer. Seed–Series A preferred, open to all stages — strong bias toward AI-native teams.
I started out doing systems and backend programming but I've spent the last few years doing product development for very modern app stacks.
Independent hardware/software contractor specializing in parallel compute — either side of it. Designing and verifying out-of-order SIMT cores, ALUs, coherent caches, and interconnect; or writing GPU compute and parallel algorithms that run on them.
Background: early engineer at Falanx Microsystems on the original Mali GPU (acquired by ARM, 2006). Co-founder and architect at Swarm64 — FPGA database accelerator (acquired by ServiceNow, 2021). Five patents in graphics and parallel acceleration. Demoscene roots (1st place NVScene; Scene.org Awards and nominations).
Open to short consulting engagements through extended contract work. Areas of interest: AI/accelerator architecture, RTL and verification for custom silicon or FPGA, GPU compute.
Recent technical write-up and open-source project I made that reached #1 on HackerNews: https://ptx2.net/posts/unbricking-a-bike-with-a-raspberry-pi
Some things I've designed/built/launched/maintained professionally: high-traffic web frontend/backends, realtime interactive graphics apps, data visualizations, computer vision apps, firmware, reverse engineering, video/image processing, apis, api integrations (payments/social/data), distributed systems, linux sysadmin, refactoring/maintaining legacy systems, managing small engineering teams, remote work, customer facing work.
Some areas of interest: the outdoors, health and fitness, art, music, environment, games, human computer interaction, product design, ui/ux, embedded/iot devices, privacy, security, networking, optimization, unusual companies/products, web, linux.
Looking for interesting software engineer or tech co-founder/director/advisor opportunities!

Hi, I'm Michael Geary. I've programmed in many languages and environments over the years. Some of my current interests are:
• Developer experience. I love helping my fellow developers solve problems, and building tools to make their jobs easier and more enjoyable.
• Aviation and geographic data. For example, airspace and obstacle data importers for Wing; election results and voter information maps for Google; many interactive maps for other companies.
• Hardware interfacing. In a way, I am a "full stack" developer, but my stack may involve a front end to a piece of hardware rather than the cloud. I first got into programming via ham radio, so RF hardware remains an interest.
• Designing and building APIs. Too often an API is designed by exposing the internals of whatever system provides the API. My philosophy is the opposite: start with the apps. I like to build a series of sample apps before starting on the API. This way I can imagine what API will make those apps and others like them easy to build.
• Talk with users! I don't like to sit in a back room cranking out code. I want to make sure it's the right code for what my users need, and that it's easy to maintain and improve as we learn more about what they want.
Open to full time or contract.
I look forward to talking with you!

Product Designer with 10 years of digital product experience, based in Prague. I design and ship consumer apps end-to-end — wireframes through production-ready UI, design systems, and developer handoff. Most recently led design for a major Czech bookseller's flagship reading app (4.7 App Store, #1 in its category). Strong in design systems, execution-heavy product design, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering teams. Psychology background applied to user-centered design.
Before transitioning to design full-time, I worked as a frontend developer (React, Vue, AngularJS) and later as a product manager — so I speak both engineering and product fluently. That background means implementation-aware designs, efficient handoffs, and less back-and-forth with devs.

Senior backend engineer available for contract, fractional, contract-to-hire, or full-time opportunities. I have 30+ years of experience building and operating production systems across startups, SaaS, media, financial services, telecom, and public safety domains. I've worked in both early-stage and growth-stage companies and enjoy owning systems end-to-end, from architecture and implementation through deployment and operations. For the past 13 years I've focused primarily on Ruby on Rails backend platforms, APIs, PostgreSQL, cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP), and production reliability. My experience includes backend architecture, distributed systems, database performance tuning, cloud migrations, DevOps ownership, and operating customer-facing systems in production. I enjoy helping teams solve scaling, reliability, modernization, and operational challenges. Particularly interested in backend, platform, infrastructure, and data-intensive systems, though I'm comfortable contributing across the stack when needed. Available to help with Rails modernization, production reliability, cloud migrations, PostgreSQL performance tuning, backend platform development, and API-heavy applications.

I’m Mark, a Dutch product designer working from strategy to shipped code. Always have, it’s what got me hooked on design over a decade ago. Since, I’ve worn many hats working in startups and for myself.
I love collaborating with founders and small teams. By working across design, engineering, and product, I help them build simple, effective, and reliable software.
I’m ideally looking for a company where I get to go beyond making pictures of interfaces. A place where I get to work end-to-end from ideas to visuals to the finished product.

A generalist with experience in full stack development, release engineering, and systems administration.
US and Mexican passport holder.
A native English speaker with C1-ish Spanish.
I've thrived when assigned to work on large, legacy projects (I've ended up leading them more than once) and with direct contact with customers and users.
Lately I've been doing more work on the sysadmin side of things (with customer contact and it's great).
I enjoy mentoring and documenting (yes, really) and putting out fires and I unapologetically use cat in shell pipelines, even when it's "useless." I have a system based loosely off of quicksort to pair my socks, yet I also spend a good deal of my free time reading and working out.

Hi, I'm Jonathan. I’m currently doing DevOps work for an open source project, operate a small web hosting company, and working as an accounting assistant for a local firm. My skillset is focused on the System Administration/DevOps side, with a bit of general dev experience primarily with Python. I have a PhD in Physics where my research focus was computational biophysics. On the side I also host my own infrastructure as a hobby, from the hardware to the nameservers and everything in between.
Having worked at startups before, I’m comfortable wearing many hats (and enjoy the variety).

Technologies: Full stack web dev for 15+ years in many forms. In recent years I've been focused on game development projects using Babylon/WebGL and working with C++ & Go server-side (MMO servers). Many years of project and product management as well.
I have some cool projects! See my personal site for email and some of those projects:
https://brynnbateman.com/
My largest project is https://www.eternalsagas.com/, which is a near-full reverse engineering and work towards a re-implementation of the 2007 MMORPG "Vanguard". The current browser-based client is very far behind my Godot based client, which I'll be releasing in a couple weeks.
Coolest more-released one is probably https://www.idlequest.net/, which is an idle-game web-based version of classic EverQuest, complete with its original 3D graphics in-browser and a real-time MMO server! Had up to 70 players online at the same time a month or two ago.
Looking largely for product engineering positions for organizations that are on the vibe-coding bandwagon, or project/product management style work. Have done both and enjoy both a lot. Open to contracting or full-time.

Hi, I'm Alex Stout, a full-stack software engineer who's combined their mastery of the fundamentals with AI development experience. Earlier this year I helped launch version 1.0 of the TypeScript-based Mastra AI framework, e.g. I built a native Datadog LLM trace exporter. More recently, I’ve been conducting small-scale agentic AI systems research, and integrating AI capabilities (like building an MCP) into an GovQL, an open source project using GraphQL to query federal government data. I also have non-AI greenfield experience, e.g. last year I co-created Unilogs, a highly scalable log observability platform featuring a condensed one-step deployment to AWS (read more about it in the case study I wrote here: https://unilogs.github.io/).

I build AI agent infrastructure. Most recently: Tracea (tracea.dev), an open-source observability platform for AI agent teams that patches the HTTP transport layer to trace LLM calls without any framework changes — no SDK wrappers, no code changes, just install and instrument. Also built ObservAgent (1000+ active users, open source).
Research side: co-authored a paper on failure-aware penetration testing - training LLMs to emit typed failure tokens so failure recognition becomes a structured recovery signal rather than an implicit state.
Prior: full-stack engineer shipping software to 50k+ users.
Looking for full-stack or AI/ML engineering roles at early-stage or growth-stage companies working on production AI systems - LLM integration, agent infrastructure, or observability. High ownership, real users, hard problems.

What I do: I build agentic systems and full-stack infrastructure — things that ship, observe themselves, and run autonomously.
Recent work:
- Founding contributor at NimbleBrain: designed the agentic loop and workflow engine that guides AI agents through building and publishing MCP server integrations end-to-end
- Co-created Vispyr: self-hosted observability platform on AWS with automated infra provisioning, OTel instrumentation, and a full Grafana telemetry stack
- Mozilla Firefox contributor: accessibility and DevTools CSS refactors
Stack I reach for: Python, TypeScript, AWS, Docker, PostgreSQL, Grafana stack, OpenTelemetry, MCP
AI-native: I build with Claude Code daily. Comfortable across the agentic toolchain — RAG, vector DBs, MCP, context engineering.

Technologies: I've mostly built around data-heavy systems, and I'm familiar with the typical tools in that space. In this era, it's possible that my domain experience in adtech, rare disease and now IP/patenting is more interesting than the details of my tech chops. I have a pretty decent sense of how "analytics" or "insights" tools play out in the real world, and I know what holds up to scrutiny in decision-making scenarios. I enjoy early-stage projects quite a bit.

I’m a senior engineer and software architect working with teams that are starting to strain under growth, complexity, or delivery pressure.
Over the last ~10 years I’ve been working with startups and established companies, primarily in roles where I take end-to-end technical responsibility: from system design through implementation and production operation, while remaining hands-on in delivery.
Recent work includes leading the architecture, implementation, and operational ownership of a distributed platform for venture capital workflows, as well as building and maintaining a production survey fulfillment system. Both engagements included mentoring and coordinating engineers alongside delivery. More details can be found at https://robinsiep.com.

Like this Ask HN: Recommend employers with positive social impact [https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31518945], I am looking for similar work, but I am open to work on any interesting project. I am a European software developer who has lived and worked on four continents. Now it's time to move on and so I am in the process to relocate to Africa.
I have more than a decade of experience running a company, doing software development, support and training and mentoring adults and students, as well as working on educational projects, and I am willing to take on a mixture of roles as needed to support a project.
I value good teamwork over fancy tech, and I don't shy away from working on legacy code. I am primarily motivated by solving problems, so let me help you solve your problems.
I am open to work for a company anywhere as long as the work can be done fully remote from Africa.
While I could find a job elsewhere I believe that the experience living in an area where my work is going to have an impact gives me a better understanding of the needs of the location I am serving. Whether it is through direct contact with clients and users or just by being part of a local community and learning about the reality of living there.
In addition, I want to use some of my income to hire local interns and junior developers and train them in order to pass on my experience. I also sponsor children that otherwise can't afford to go to school (see my website). If you want to support this, I would love to work with you. Also if you are interested in hiring African developers yourself. I can help you build up a team for you.

Senior backend / platform engineer. 10 years on the JVM. For the last 5, sole backend architect of a US-based real-time JVM platform sustaining 1,500 concurrent users on a single shard, with sub-50ms p95 on the hot path and a "recovery under 60s" production SLO held for 5 years of solo on-call. Cross-shard state via Redis pub/sub, idempotent operations with full audit trails, JVM tuning, declarative infra (Ansible + Docker), CI/CD, Grafana SLI/SLO. Before that, 5 years of Spring Boot for Fortune-500 clients in regulated industries (compliance audit, RBAC, integrations).
Recent OSS. Productized the patterns. Latest is fanloop (github.com/lucasfrederico/fanloop): a self-hostable real-time fan-out gateway. Spring Boot + Redis pub/sub backplane, deployed end to end on Kubernetes with Helm, Kustomize overlays, an ArgoCD app-of-apps, kube-prometheus-stack and a committed Grafana dashboard. Includes a Terraform module that provisions the AWS platform (VPC, EKS, ElastiCache, ArgoCD bootstrap). CI deploys the stack to a kind cluster and runs a cross-replica smoke test. Plus tickloop (real-time JVM toolkit, Java 21), slow-query-watcher (Spring Boot starter), pg_table_bloat (Postgres extension in Rust / pgrx), pgcraft (Postgres TUI in Go).
Looking for Senior or Staff roles in: platform / SRE, distributed backend, real-time systems, Postgres or database infra. Bonus interest in travel and fintech (domain familiarity).
Happy to chat.

Who I am: Fractional CTO with 25+ years of experience building and scaling products across multiple generations of the web. I’m often brought in to turn ideas into working systems quickly, or to stabilize and evolve existing platforms.
I’ve led teams, hired engineers, defined architecture, and stayed hands-on in the code. My work spans AI-driven platforms, streaming media systems, and full-stack web applications. I’m comfortable operating at both the executive strategy level and deep in implementation.
Known for being a “Swiss army knife” technologist who can bridge product, engineering, and execution without overengineering.
What I am looking for: Part-time Fractional CTO or Head/Director of Technology roles.
Best fit: startups or growing companies that need someone to own technical direction, ship quickly, and make practical decisions without unnecessary complexity.
Strong interest in AI-powered products, media/streaming, and content platforms, but open to any project where execution speed and clarity matter.

Computer Vision engineer and former Product Owner at Mosaic (geospatial imaging). Background in applied mathematics; spent 5+ years on 3D reconstruction, SfM pipelines, multi-camera calibration, and LiDAR processing. And another 4 years before as an embedded engineer processing sensor data.
I've built calibration and processing pipelines for panoramic camera systems. Delivered large-scale photogrammetry projects for VFX clients including Netflix and Apple TV — hundreds of thousands of images per reconstruction. Owned products across calibration, image processing, and LiDAR pipelines end-to-end, provided support to the clients, and was responsible for communication with other HW and FW teams, including planning and roadmap discussions.
Now independent — focused on novel 3D reconstruction methods, calibration and Gaussian Splatting. Open to co-founding / product-engineer roles or consulting on hard Computer Vision problems. Short form of project based cooperation is also doable.
In my current job-free time I'm exploring Julia, Geometric Algebra for computer vision.

Hi, I'm Branko. I am looking for a part-time or contract position in a small team where I can wear multiple hats: building features (Frontend/Node/Laravel), handling support tickets, writing documentation, and improving SEO.
I have an engineering degree in Geodesy/GIS and 5+ years of customer support experience. I've developed products like a text analysis tool, a fishing logbook app, and an app for easing certain customer support tasks (links on website).
If you need someone who is just as comfortable handling support and documentation as they are writing code, I'd love to chat.

15 years as a full-stack AI engineer, including onsite engineering and team leadership for US enterprises ADP and Time Warner Cable. I ship agentic AI products in 2 to 3 weeks, not months.
What I build:
-> Multi-agent systems with LangGraph, CrewAI, OpenAI Agents SDK, and AutoGen. Tool use, handoffs, planning loops, and guardrails that hold up past the demo.
-> Production RAG pipelines with pgvector, reranking, and evaluation. Not just a notebook.
-> AI-integrated full-stack apps on Next.js, Supabase, and Stripe. From MVP to scale.
Best fit: founders building agentic AI products who need senior engineering judgment, not just code. I have led and mentored engineering teams, so I can own architecture decisions and bring the rest of your team up to speed.
Open to fixed-bid projects, ongoing contract work, or fractional technical lead engagements. Competitive rates for the quality delivered.

24 years in infrastructure, currently Lead Platform Engineer at a security AI startup where I built the platform team from scratch (0 to 5 engineers) and architected multi-tenant Kubernetes infrastructure across 40+ clusters with per-tenant KMS encryption and Argo-based progressive delivery.
Before that, spent nearly 6 years as Staff SRE at Iterable where most of my work centered on making infrastructure cheaper and more reliable. Replaced ELK with Quickwit for 65TB/day log ingestion (saved $1.2M/year), migrated Lambda pipelines to Vector ($60k/mo down to $8k/mo), and stood up VictoriaMetrics to replace Datadog for 33M metrics ($30k/mo savings). I tend to find the project that saves the most money and then actually build it.
I write Go -- built Kubernetes operators for RabbitMQ, Redis, and Vector (open source: github.com/zcentric/vector-operator). Terraform is my IaC of choice and I've used it everywhere from a global Predix platform (Japan, EU regions) to scaling Kubernetes clusters from 10 to 300 nodes on spot instances for satellite image processing at Urthecast.
I've managed teams at three companies (up to 6 engineers) and served as product owner for SRE groups, but I'm open to both IC and management roles at the Staff/Principal/Director level.
Looking for: DevOps, SRE, Platform Engineering, or Cloud Infrastructure roles. $200K+ total comp. Remote only, US-based.

I'm a Product Engineer and a creative based in London. I’ve built full-stack applications across web, mobile, blockchain and embedded platforms. My client-side work includes React, Electron, Roku’s Scenegraph, and native iOS development with Swift and SwiftUI, always with a strong focus on UX and design-first thinking. On the service-side, I’ve worked with traditional service hosting, containers, and serverless, including (but not limited to) AWS, GCP, Cloudflare, Workers, CloudFormation, SAM CLI, nodejs, bunjs, MySQL, Postgres, NoSQL, grpc, Redis, Docker, nginx, and a few legacy tools best left unnamed (yes, including CodeIgniter and ftp).
I’ve also developed developer tools like CLIs and SDKs, primarily Typescript/JavaScript land, and have written code in systems languages such as Rust and Zig.
I care about clean code, great UX, developer experience, documentation, rapid iteration and automating workflows with CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Bash scripts, etc).
Also familiar with modern development practices by leveraging coding agents, such as pi, opencode, claude and LLM, including kimi over fireworks inference.

Hi, I’m Fabrizio Milo, a senior AI/ML engineer, large-scale systems architect, and former technical co-founder. I’ve spent my career building production AI, ML infrastructure, and high-scale backend systems across startups and growth-stage companies.
Most recently, I’ve been building AI platforms for LLM training and fine-tuning, RAG databases, local and remote LLM inference, semantic retrieval, and agentic orchestration for business intelligence and code generation. I’ve also contributed to open source ML projects including GPT-Neo, TensorFlow and published research on synthetic data from LLMs.
Previously, I was VP of Technology at ZELIG, where I led the virtual try-on AI research roadmap and managed a cross-functional team building ML/3D systems for fashion retail. Before that, I was Head of Machine Learning Engineering at Recurrency, where I hired and led a 6-person ML/platform team and shipped demand forecasting, dynamic pricing, and recommendation systems on AWS/Snowflake/SageMaker. I also co-founded Passio, where I built the technical foundation for an on-device Nutrition-AI SDK with real-time computer vision inference.
Earlier in my career, I built scalable systems at TheRealReal and Scopely, optimized CUDA kernels at NVIDIA, and worked on real-time market-data and high-performance systems. I’m strongest where AI research, production engineering, and startup execution meet: taking ambiguous technical/product goals and turning them into shipped systems, teams, and infrastructure.
I can architect and build anything you need given enough compute and time.
I'm a product-minded fullstack software engineer with a strong eye for UX and design. I work confidently across the stack and thrive in fast-paced startup environments where quick, innovative problem-solving is key. I use AI heavily in my development workflow to ship faster, and I design and build AI-powered features as core parts of the products I work on.

Confabulistas - https://www.confabulistas.com.br/catalog
A catalog of Brazilian fiction writers with natural-language semantic search. Author biographies are chunked and embedded via OpenAI embeddings, stored in Postgres with pgvector, and queried by cosine similarity against the embedded user query, then LLM rerank. The site is in Portuguese, but the search accepts English queries, so it can be tested directly.
Parliant - https://www.parliant.ai
an AI-conducted conversational survey platform. I envisioned, designed, and built it end-to-end, leveraging AI-assisted coding and integrating advanced AI features.
Touchline Shouting - https://www.touchlineshouting.com

I have worked primarily in the Federal contracting space for the past six years. I currently hold a DHS Public Trust, and I have spent the past few days working on an I2PD monitoring daemon, a few weeks on my own central authentication store, and the past few months on a proprietary application I cannot disclose at the present time.
I'm a systems programmer and I am happier the lower in the stack I am. The narrative of my career is one of going deeper into the infrastructure, deeper into the stuff that other people get to build on top of. I most recently spent a couple of years on the async Rust dataplane at Cloudflare, working on an L3/L4 software router. I write Rust by preference now, but I've shipped a lot of C and C++ down at the layer where you have to care about NUMA, syscalls, and where every packet goes.

I build production AI systems — agent runtimes, LLM tooling, RAG — and the backends behind them, in Rust where reliability matters and Python/TypeScript to move fast with a team. Most recently I wrote the core of Ward in Rust myself (agent runtime, analytics layer, multi-tenant audit/security model); it runs in a paid POC against a $400M, 850-store retailer's live SAP data. Before that I co-founded a YC W24 startup, took a Meta Marketplace product from zero to ~10k monthly transactions, and re-platformed a failing commerce backend to Rust that cut its AWS bill ~70%. ~10 years across fintech, healthtech, and commerce.

Senior Ruby on Rails developer, 11+ years across fintech, SaaS, e-commerce, and startups. Open to full-time remote or contract. What I'm best at: Performance work on existing codebases. Once optimized a set of Rails API endpoints from 90-120s down to 1-2s — measuring first, raw SQL where ActiveRecord produced bad queries, indexing, restructuring background jobs. External API integrations (5+ over my career: Google Maps, Chargebee, WhatsApp via 360dialog, SDB Groep, AFAS). Comfortable with the messy parts — retries, idempotency, webhook ordering, partial failures. Working with legacy and tests-nobody-touches. Reading before writing, refactoring without breaking things. As Tech Lead at clevergig (Dutch SaaS) for 3 years, I set up code review, bug tracking, and ownership processes for a long-lived codebase.
Recent stops: FactCTO (fintech), Rail Europe, Fitjourney.ai, Kagi (Crystal backend), clevergig (Tech Lead).
For fun: building a Rails app + ESP32 device that tracks power outages at my home — the device pings the API every minute, the Rails side aggregates into hours-with-power vs. without. Started during the post-2022 outages in Kyiv and kept evolving — a good way to keep Rails fresh and combine backend with a bit of hardware.

I build and ship production agentic systems. Some of what I've built:
- aeon-main — a multi-agent runtime I architected from scratch (~26k LOC, 270+ tests): persistent agents, background task scheduling, and a custom MCP server that lets agents spawn sub-agents recursively, past Claude Code's native 2-layer limit. Public.
- InBetween (CTO & co-founder) — an MCP server + tooling that lets AI agents message each other directly. In production.
- DOT — a full agentic framework I built from scratch that runs an autonomous Twitter account end to end. Public on GitHub.
- Claudeblox — a system of AI agents that build and playtest Roblox games on their own.
- Telegram integrations at the MTProto protocol level (Telethon), not just the Bot API.
Open to agentic-infrastructure contracts or a founding-engineer role.

SEEKING FREELANCE WORK | Connected Product / Embedded & IoT Engineer
Hi, I'm Nick. I help startups and small teams ship connected products that stay reliable in the field for years, not just months. Through my consultancy (NRB Tech) I design, build, harden, and support production-ready IoT and embedded systems end to end — firmware, wireless connectivity, secure OTA, and the companion iOS/Android app to go with it.
Recent work: a Zephyr/nRF firmware platform, iOS/macOS/Android apps, and a developer SDK for Bluetooth pedals used by musicians worldwide (AirTurn); USB-MIDI guitar-pedal controllers with reliable OTA (Positive Grid); an LTE-M vehicle security platform with BLE coexistence, aggressive low-power management, and an AWS backend (KēZ); and a remote-managed Raspberry Pi fleet driving an outdoor interactive light installation (ROUTES).
I'm best for: BLE / Nordic / Zephyr firmware, cellular IoT with low-power constraints, secure boot + OTA, hardware-paired iOS apps, technical audits of an existing product, and long-term maintenance of shipped devices. MEng in Electronic Engineering and a CSSLP, so I can interface with and debug hardware — though I don't take PCB layout or RF design as deliverables.
I work around outcomes rather than timesheets, usually starting with a short audit or discovery phase so we both have clarity before a larger build. Drop me a line with a short description of your project and we can arrange a call.

I’m Ngô Phú Thịnh, a software engineer based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, looking for remote roles in AI, automation, web development, or product engineering.
I’m especially interested in building practical AI-powered tools, automation systems, internal tools, data workflows, web apps, and products that combine software engineering with applied AI. I have experience developing web and mobile applications, designing system architectures, maintaining data pipelines, and building e-commerce platforms, landing pages, and data-analysis algorithms for startups.
My background is a mix of software engineering, data science, and research. I graduated from the University of Science, VNU-HCM with a Bachelor’s in Mathematics and Computer Science, specializing in Data Science, and I’m currently pursuing an MBA at UEH. I’ve also published research on legal information retrieval, AI for Vietnamese labor law, and human-in-the-loop annotation.
Some areas I’d be excited to work on: - AI automation / workflow automation - AI agents, LLM integrations, RAG, search, and retrieval systems - Web apps, dashboards, internal tools, and SaaS products - Data pipelines, scraping, analysis, and automation - Legal-tech, edtech, productivity tools, or developer tools - Frontend, full-stack, or product-focused engineering
I’m adaptable, curious, comfortable learning quickly, and happy to work across the stack from research/prototyping to production implementation.
I fluctuate between:
- Deep learning / Neural networks - from architecture to inference. You might have used my ♥ Lovely Tensors library if you work with PyTorch (or JAX). Some CUDA, pytorch profiler, etc.

I've mostly been a first or founding engineer, owning and evolving end-to-end systems in fast-moving environments. I focus on high-throughput pipelines, messaging platforms, media processing, recommendation engines, and real-time infrastructure.
I also build real-time dashboards and browser-based tooling to observe, debug, and control these distributed systems, using local-first storage and media processing as well as real-time communication workflows. I design systems that remain understandable and resilient under load, retries, and partial failures.
Recent work:
- Built a messaging system delivering millions of emails and push notifications in minutes (retries, deliverability, observability)
- Deployed real-time pipelines and recommendation systems for tens of millions of users
- Launched a browser-based video editing and encoding platform using FFmpeg, Supabase, and AWS serverless
- Scaled event ingestion 100x to power analytics, experimentation, and targeting
I do my best work in small, product-focused teams where engineers stay close to production, communicate early about risks and tradeoffs, and work directly with customers to solve concrete problems.
Currently interested in full-time, part-time, or contract:
- Forward deployed engineering
- Founding or early engineering
- Platform and systems engineering
- Data engineering

Open to: Senior SWE, FDE, Solutions Engineer, Senior Backend Engineer.

Hi, I'm Madison Rickert, a senior software engineer who has been shipping code to production for over 20 years. Experienced engineering leader, presently all-in on agentic engineering, shipping code daily and finding new ways to push the envelope on its capabilities.
I'm an active contributor to several open-source MCP servers, build agent-first CLI tools, solve computer vision problems, and maintain a growing library of agent skills and agent harnesses I rely on daily.
For the past five-plus years I've been a partner and the in-house technical force at a creative studio. Before that, I was a senior IC and fractional engineering lead for a variety of startups and nonprofits, working across the full stack and mentoring teams of up to 5.
I have a penchant for both business and personal finance. Across my businesses and clients, I've been responsible for managing organizational finances and countless projects with typical budgets in the 5 to 6 figure range. Over the years this led me into financial automation, and I have several open-source projects in my portfolio in areas around agentic financial automation and investment management.
I'm also a working musician, and a hyper-organized Burning Man camp lead, best known around the Northern California festival scene for my saxophone performances for crowds up to 3,000 people.
I'm pivoting back to senior IC engineering after a long stretch as partner-operator. I'm excited to keep expanding the capabilities of AI, and my creative-tech and financial background will be a real asset to the right organization. If you're building software for creative work, media systems, music tech, financial tools, or AI tooling, I'd love to hear about it.
Hi./
Thank youCool thread/idea, but kind of weird in the age of LLMs and data scraping. If I wanted to build a database of engineers with really sensitive data, this is how I’d do part of that collection.
I think this is largely the point, this data is absolutely scraped but the people posting want to be found.
Yeah, I understand the surface-level reasoning. But to me the risk-to-reward ratio is a bit off. Resumes have very personal info on them. It’s also well known that engineers are wealthy. I could see something like this being used to generate a portfolio of high-quality, high-income targets for scams.
We've had these threads every month for years.

Two-time founding engineer. Currently the first engineering hire at N86, building the platform 0→1 with the founding team. Previously founding engineer / frontend lead at mfg.parts, where I built a real-time collaborative 3D CAD viewer (React + Autodesk Platform Services + PubSub) and ran user research with 110+ users across 40+ companies. Also did a full-stack stint at Acadium, shipping an internal sales dashboard that cut response time 40%+.
I'm a frontend-heavy full-stack engineer who closes the design-to-code loop solo. Comfortable with ambiguity, real-time collaborative interfaces, and agentic workflows as a daily working mode.
If you want an eager engineer who thrives in early-stage chaos, reach out! I'm also open to contributing on a contract, internship, or volunteer basis for young startups — in exchange for experience, equity, or a mix. Happy to chat.

For one year I reverse-engineered the major education platforms — Google Docs, Microsoft Office, Nearpod, Kahoot, ect. — so that AI agents can drive them on a teacher's behalf and automate classroom workflows. The work runs in over 10,000 classrooms today.
Building agents against production code you don't control is harder than it sounds. The code is mangled, so first you have to understand how the app was built and then take it apart from the outside. It's reverse engineering, but it depends on knowing how to build the thing in the first place.
The role came with monthly compliance and security training centered on FERPA, so I'm fluent in handling student data responsibly. That's not new ground for me. I spent five years building on Drupal, which the most prestigious learning institutions still run today, and version control and access control were the hard part of every project. Student data is the same problem.
I've been building browser agents and browser automation since 2018, well before it was a category. That's paired with 13 years of building dynamic, data-heavy UIs for web and mobile.
I've also built admin dashboards for a custom legal document management system. And a CRM for email marketing, with a drag-and-drop interface for designing and branding email templates for social campaigns. I've taken several companies from 0 to 1, as a consultant and as a full-time employee, across fintech, streaming, real estate, education, marketing, and media. I've worked at a 130-person AI company and on a 7-person team where I wore every hat. I do my best work on small, fast-moving teams.

Prior to that I built and led the API team for World First, one of the largest FX brokerages in the UK where I played a leading role in their technology success, becoming and expert in FX markets and bringing innovative solutions to the space, helping the company expand globally over my time there. They sold to Ant Finance for $700m not long after my departure
I've also been a contractor, worked at an agency, and a bespoke suit company with an online tailoring system (and also tried to build my own business in this space)
I'm good at software design, thinking about and modeling data, efficient access patterns. I've worked with a wide selection of tools over the years (17 years professionally). I've been using Linux for 20 years now. I still write the best SQL queries I've ever seen (but I would say that). I've designed and worked with distributed systems and event-driven systems a fair bit and modeled some complex workflows. I've used AWS Lambda extensively
As well as the technologies above, I'm an expert in rapid delivery, team building/hiring, CI/CD, pipelines and workflows, and distributed systems
Although I'm a backend engineer I've also worked extensively on frontends, both mobile (react native) and web (going all the way back to Flash which I worked with professionally early in my career)
I've been taking a break from work to recuperate and put some focus on my hobbies but I have been getting back in to programming (now with LLMs). I'm currently working on an opensource alternative to Github Copilot
I'd like some money coming in though, it's always a good feeling
I'd make a good candidate for any founders who haven't landed on a CTO yet or looking for a stopgap, but want someone they can depend on to deliver what they need rapidly whilst receiving good insights from someone who played a key role in taking an early stage startup to unimagined succcess. I'm not looking for a permanent role. Anything from days to months

I’m a senior generalist engineer with founding-style ownership. I like building systems end-to-end: protocol and product code, backend platforms, infrastructure, internal tools, and product-facing surfaces. Several times I was either an initial or an early hire in small and large-scale projects and products.
For the last two years, I was a founding engineer at Load Network, an early-stage L1 EVM chain with Arweave-based data settlement. I worked across the stack: developed protocol-level abstractions, consensus and execution clients, bootstrapped infrastructure, DevOps, and smart-contract prototypes. I also built private AI agent harnesses, ran multi-agent tests, and used LLMs for spec review and cross-client protocol design research and data gathering.
Before that, I spent six years in gamedev building backend platforms for massive-scale games at Strikerz/UFL (uflgame.com) and Vizor Games. I was an early hire, working directly with the CTO to build the infrastructure and design the system from the ground up. I engineered microservices for matchmaking, game economy/payments, quests, auth, moderation, and data pipelines (Kafka, Postgres, ClickHouse). I also managed Kubernetes, observability, internal admin tooling in Python/JS, and took part in high-stakes production launches.
I built my engineering foundation in enterprise Business Intelligence and Data Architecture. I shipped large-scale data warehouses (OLAP) for global companies (pharma, logistics), writing heavily optimized Oracle PL/SQL and T-SQL.
Open source: Merged contributions to the Ethereum ecosystem, including the Reth client in Rust, Flashbots SUAVE, and Alloy.
These days, I'm spending more time on product-facing surfaces (React, Rails), exploring Zig, and using LLMs for the right dose of entropy and speed.
Looking for: founding engineer, senior/staff software engineer, full-stack or backend roles where broad ownership and technical depth matter.

PhD-trained engineer/manager (astronomy by training -- data is data). Currently Senior Data Science Manager at Hyundai Motor America's North American Safety Office, where I build large-scale vehicle telemetry pipelines, LLM-driven classification and RAG over enterprise data, and led department-wide LLM/AI adoption from technical workshops to production SDLC. Previously managed a data science team at HeadSpin: built data science pipelines, killed error-prone spreadsheet workflows with proper APIs and dashboards, reimplemented the flagship data product to reduce costs, latency, and churn.
Looking for senior data / platform sorts of roles. Equally happy IC or manager -- I just want to ship. Open to full-time or fractional/contract; happy to even work on small projects you want to send my way to help get to know each other.
I build a lot on my own time, and the side projects are probably the best read on how I work:
- forohtoo -- Go service for awaiting Solana payments via SSE/NATS, with a clean `Await(memo, amount)` SDK. Writeup: https://brojonat.com/posts/forohtoo/ - IncentivizeThis (https://incentivizethis.com) -- bounty-based authentic ad platform using LLM-as-judge across Reddit, YouTube, Twitch, Instagram, HN, TripAdvisor. Writeup: https://brojonat.com/posts/incentivizethis/ - If I Go Missing (https://if-i-go-missing.com) -- dead-man's-switch service (Go + Temporal + Postgres + Twilio + Stripe). - IYBI ("If You Build It [They Will Come]", https://iybi-twc.com) -- websites for independent workers, managed entirely by email. Customer pays via Stripe, emails an AI agent (Claude + Cloudflare Email Worker + R2 + K8s CronJob), the agent researches them, builds the site, and handles ongoing updates. My own consulting site runs on it.
Mostly Go or Python services running on my personal k8s cluster. Happy to talk shop or small projects we could work on together to assess fit.

About: Hey, I'm Marciano, a product engineer who designs and ships end-to-end. I take things from first concept and interface design all the way to working production code, no handoff in between. 7+ years of it: consumer apps, platforms, internal tools.
Some recent stuff: I built Stembuswijzer.nl, a polling station finder that went viral during the Dutch elections last year. I built Campfire.gg, a watch-together video platform. And I'm currently building Vit (joinvit.club), an all-in-one health tracking app (food logging, workouts, habits, body measurements).
I'm looking for a part-time engagement (roughly 24 hours/week) on something meaningful in health, sustainability, or community tech.
I'm at my best where design and engineering aren't separate roles, owning a feature from the Figma file to the deploy (I do admit I rather just work in code nowadays, but can still use Figma at the start). I work fast, think in systems, and care a lot about clarity, quality, and usability. If you're building something that should actually get used, let's talk :)

I'm a full-stack developer with broad experience looking for my next role!
Lately I'm in the spaces between data science and engineering reliable, high-performance, resilient, yet highly-usable tools for scientists and other developers, across the stack. It's a lot of fun.
Some recent projects:
- Performance tuning and infrastructure cost-reductions on https://oceanconnect.ca. It's faster and cheaper to run than ever. Costs are essentially cut in half, and performance across hot paths, on average, is about 30% better. There's now comprehensive observability across the stack, making it so we can rapidly diagnose issues with complex model processing pipelines and data acquisition systems. On top of that, the error rate has dropped dramatically despite increased visibility into what's going wrong (a lot of issues were silently swallowed by OOM culling in Lambda, for example). Also, I managed to reduce the storage footprint of the database by around 80% by more aggressively pruning obsolete data (especially raster tiles), tightening the sliding window around useful and aged-out data. This was done in part by partitioning data better so we could free it sooner without worrying about dead tuples and autovacuum. It's tighter, cleaner, faster, and cheaper to back up.
- Developing a low-cost solution to autonomously regulate temperatures in 40 saltwater tanks in a remote lab, using equipment which doesn't support remote controls. Using digital potentiometers inserted into each temperature controller, the system spoofs the tank's temperature to trigger heating or cooling, then observes until the correct temperature is reached. It uses several dissimilar redundancies, including a dead man's switch, to ensure there can't be run-away heating or cooling loops. The cost for new hardware with remote control capability came in close to $100K, but this solution (along with supporting software for designing temperature profile time series, monitoring tanks, and viewing historical data) is under $15K, yet required much of the same supporting software work. It's fully compatible with future hardware supporting direct remote control, as well; we'd only need to remove the temperature-spoofing loop and send set points to the units instead.
- A library for analyzing biodiversity datasets, inferring semantics about their data, and then creating a declarative configuration which can be used to transform the data to Darwin Core and validate it. It has a core library that can be used in any kind of client, like a CLI, web API, or a GUI. The declarative configuration makes it so datasets can be worked on in GitHub, then the CLI can run in a workflow to ensure it's still valid as it changes and grows. It uses DuckDB to make assertions about primitive types and data/relational integrity, then uses the application layer to make semantic assertions according to the specification's requirements. The entire workflow is highly supportive to scientists, explaining any issues with the data in very plain terms from start to finish. This has made it so scientists can make old records conform to the standard and have it ready for publishing far faster and with higher confidence than ever. At the same time, it also serves the purpose of helping scientists understand a large, complex standard one field at a time as they work through issues, rather than forcing them to tackle the entire standard from the outset. Ideally, this will lead to them working with the standard earlier and more often, with better knowledge and intuition for how to do so. It's built using Deno, Effect, Qwen 3.5 (for initial semantic inference passes), and DuckDB.
I'm also interested in LLM harness development and creating more deterministic agents with safety and behaviour guarantees.
My work experience is diverse, ranging from SaaS to science to a bit of firmware and robots. I'm interested in just about anything so long as it's genuinely useful, challenging, and the team is excited.

I run givedirection.com, a cohort-based education program for AI workflow practitioners. My focus is on teaching people how to actually build and operate with AI individually or for companies integrating agent/AI workflows.
Background: USAF intelligence, founded and sold Pair Inc. (AR platform, 1M+ users, acquired 2019), CTO at Kessel Run, Principal Engineer at Unity Technologies, CTO at Gambit AI. Built findcovidtesting.com here with other HN people. Co-authored IEEE 7010 on ethical AI.
Open to AI training, education, curriculum design, or advising on long-horizon strategy. Ideal engagements align with or extend what I'm already building at Direction but I'm open to any 1099 or contract work, and the right full time job.
Note: I will not work for the US defense market so please don't reach out about US based defensed roles.
Curious why you are no longer interested in US based defense roles? Is it just because working in the defense space gets old?
I have seen it inside and out from every angle and I can only conclude tha nothing good has ever come from war, and the fact that people profit from it is disgusting.

Full-stack JavaScript-focused engineer/entrepreneur with lots of experience in building scalable single page apps in different frameworks, web3, multiplayer web games, building transformers and other networks, all sorts of things. Product-oriented, executive and leadership experience, comfortable in both autonomous and collaborative settings, capable Linux sysadmin. I know how to ship, end to end.
I've focused for several years now on agentic and generative work such as simulating networked LLM-augmented embodied agents, interface research, too much to list here but always happy to talk more over email. While the rest of the industry is just starting to latch onto agentic systems, I can offer years of experience, product insight and leadership.
Available for consulting, startups, projects, anything web or agentic.
