EVs will dominate the world in 10 years. Haters will hate. These two statements are not mutually exclusive. There is juicy irony in the fact that this is the country where modern EVs were invented and it is the one that hates the transition the most. EVs is just logical, it's better in every way possible and you can convert anyway gasoline into electricity to charge it so it's not even like you have a problem charging it anywhere, you can just bring the generator with you in the trunk for "problematic area".
