I have a rescue dog - a 6 year old German Shepherd mix. When we rescued him I couldn't believe how many animals there were at all the shelters and animal control centers, and how hard it was to find out about them.
I built a simple site (https://rescueapet.benswork.space) which connects you with available dogs and cats in your area :-) It uses data from local shelters and pulls it all into one place, so you can make a shortlist of animals, then reach out to the shelter to adopt.
I was honestly surprised that something like this didn't already exist. Let me know what you think!
The Tinder swipe mechanic for pet adoption is genuinely clever. Swiping feels low-commitment which is exactly what you want to get people browsing animals they wouldnt normally look at. How are you sourcing the shelter data?
Thanks! There are several APIs used by shelters to manage and share listings for pets that are up for adoption; right now I'm just using those.
