OpenStreetMap tiles served as Protomaps PMTiles from Cloudflare R2. The whole serving layer runs on edge with no tile server. Infrastructure cost is ~€7/month regardless of traffic because R2 has no egress fees.
Built it because Google Maps embeds in Europe are a GDPR headache (cookies, third-party domains, consent barriers), and they show your competitors on your own website.
why would someone do it with your tool and not just added it directly to the code traditionally?
