That's not true at all. I know him, too. He is offline, not in jail, but plans to be back online at some point. He was acquitted of the charges you referenced. The report you linked is also not accurate about the charges. (Believe it or not, cops lie.)

That is not what he was charged with, and he was acquitted. I know him personally and he is a good guy, despite how this looks. I think you should remove this link.
This certainly changes things...
If a programmer ends up in jail, it is kind of important to know why, so we can assess if we want to run/use their software. So without writing the details I found out, the alleged crime (if it is the same person) is a crime we as society disagree with, very much. But it isn't related to cybercrime in a sense where it can hurt this software project directly.
