AI, even when it provides a net benefit, does threathen the value potentially offered by individuals.

Is it though? I think that's way too simplistic to even come close to being true. Is it even possible for all individuals in an ecosystem to be parasites? Doesn't a parasitic relationship not imply the existence of hosts?
