I’ve coded or led dozens of data projects over the years including:

Integrating 30 systems that didn’t talk to each other yet managed 4m orders/day, into a united view (we found 10,000 missing orders on various warehouse shelves).
Building out a 10TB DWH for a $1trn/year exchange, and building a data team to go with it.
Turning many, many daily hacked together scripts into live, correct tables (I found and fixed one that ran an unsecured, unmonitored lending program).
Making reporting up to 1000x faster through simple query tweaks. You might not need that $100k/month “big data” setup.
Architecting a market maker entirely made of PostgreSQL triggers that made markets on 6 pairs for the 180 days it took for the pros to come over with their C++.
Setting up Mechanical Turk like labelling to reclassify an online shop’s entire catalog overnight for $400; we found 10% were misclassified (I could do this with, or for AI today).
I also built https://gutensearch.com/ - mostly as an experiment to show the power and simplicity of Postgres FTS. It is somehow still running, and remains (AFAIK) the only way to look inside Project Gutenberg books.

After a stint running a startup and doing a lot of conference hand shaking, I am returning to my roots getting my hands dirty with data problems. Give me your gnarliest queries, your query planner nightmares, your long departed intern’s trail of duct tape, your favourite jazz standard, or let me build you a team and unfreeze your data customers.

Equally happy with consulting or full time work.
