I can't pay my rent with bitcoin without turning it into real money, with fees involved. I can't go to the market and buy food with bitcoin. I can't see someone begging outside Walgreens and help them out with some bitcoin. Bitcoin's also volatile enough that there's a significant risk of its value dropping on the floor between the time I receive it and try to use it. It's a fine Ponzi scam but it's utterly useless for replacing USD.
