| about: | About Spinity — The 2mm Micro-Bearing Ring Spinity is an experiment in micro-engineering and minimal design — a 2mm-thin wearable ring built around a real micro ball-bearing. Unlike friction-based spinner rings, Spinity uses a true bearing structure with a precisely machined inner–outer clearance, allowing the outer ring to rotate smoothly for over 20 seconds with a single flick. The challenge behind Spinity was simple to describe but difficult to achieve: Can a real bearing system be compressed into the thickness of a normal ring without losing rigidity or comfort? Across dozens of prototypes, we explored: deformation behavior in ultra-thin stainless steel micro-bearing alignment and tolerance stack-up heat-affected distortion during laser processing surface finishing vs. structural integrity wear resistance in daily use ways to miniaturize rotational inertia while keeping the ring lightweight Spinity isn’t meant to be flashy. It’s a quiet engineering object — part jewelry, part fidget tool, part mechanical curiosity.
